What does Medicare-certified home health actually provide?
Medicare home health is intermittent skilled care ordered by a clinician -- nursing visits, physical, occupational or speech therapy, and short aide visits tied to that plan -- for someone who is homebound. It is not a caregiver who stays for a shift.
Non-medical home care (companionship, bathing help, meals, overnight presence) is a different service, usually paid privately or through MI Choice or Michigan's Medicaid Home Help program. Those agencies do not appear in CMS data, so they are not on this list.
How should families use the ZIP-code column?
Use it as a first filter: an agency that lists many ZIP codes in our area is more likely to have nurses and therapists routing through your parent's neighborhood, but only the agency can confirm it will accept a referral today.
